On September 12, 2023, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (OPC) requested comments on children and young people’s privacy. In particular, the OPC highlighted that the consultation concerns specific protections introduced to the Privacy Act in 2020 for children and young people’s personal data, and whether such amendments provide adequate protection for personal data such as names, addresses, age, photos, videos, and whakapapa.
